Educational/Professional Background

Dr. Golden Guzman received her PhD in Social Work from Rutgers University. She has spearheaded or collaborated on more than 30 applied research and evaluation projects in child welfare, education, and public health using qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods. In recognition of her writing and scientific contributions, she received the 2024 Journal of Public Child Welfare Best Article of the Year Award and the 2023 Dean’s Award for Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation. She holds a joint MA degree from the Eliot Pearson School of Child Study and Human Development and the Urban and Environmental Policy and Practice School at Tufts University.

Research/Practice Interests

Dr. Golden Guzman’s work aims to center equity and sustainability to advance the wellbeing of children, youth, and communities impacted by child welfare and related systems. She is committed to integrating reflexive practice and applying anti-racist tools to study design, data collection, and analysis so evaluation and research can increase the likelihood that communities receive the support they need to thrive.
